Sakaide, a town of ancient romance, has modern Seto Ohashi Bridge and excellent cultural heritage, and is an area associated with many historical figures. Marugame has one of the rare wooden castle towers, the "Marugame Castle," which is one of only 12 in the country. The stone wall, which is about 60m high and has a beautiful curve called "Ogi-no-Kakari," is a characteristic feature. And don't forget the Sanuki udon noodles. It's a good idea to take a udon taxi guided by a knowledgeable driver and visit famous and hidden noodle shops.

This lantern stands next to the Kotohira-Kadan train station. It was designed to provide light to ships off the coast of Marugame. It was also an important landmark for people walking towards the Kotohira-gu Shrine. The walls of the lantern still bear graffiti from people in the Edo period.
