Encounter Powerful Animals

One of the most popular attractions in the park, where you can see powerful animals, is the "Moujuukan 299". This is an area where the zoo's main attractions, such as Amur tigers, jaguars, and lions, are kept. One of the attractions is that it is an all-weather facility, so you can enjoy it even on rainy days. In the Arctic Zone inside the building, you can see lively seals and polar bears that live in cold regions, with snow falling from an artificial snow machine.

At the Red Panda Pavilion, as the name suggests, you can meet adorable red pandas. There are two exhibition areas, one outdoors and one indoors, both of which recreate a natural living space with varying heights. Visitors are drawn to the sight of the red pandas walking between trees and eating their food, displaying their natural behavior in the wild. If you're lucky, they may even come close to humans, making it a great spot for taking commemorative photos.

Watching Penguins Jumping and Swimming in Water

The Penguin House is where you can observe penguins living on land and in water. On land, penguins move around with short, waddling steps, but once they dive into the water, you can see their robust figures swimming at high speeds. This facility has exhibition areas for both land and water, and in the water area, you can observe penguins swimming overhead. Observing penguins from below, which is not usually possible, is a must-see.

At the park's rest house, you can enjoy cute and delicious gourmet food inspired by animals. One popular dish that both adults and children love is the "polar bear curry." The rice is shaped like a polar bear and has an adorable appearance that might make you hesitate to eat it with chopsticks. In addition to rice, the rest house also offers side dishes like french fries and a variety of desserts. It's also recommended to use the rest house casually when you're feeling a little hungry. They even sell sweets like the "seal tunnel parfait" that are perfect for taking photos.

The amusement park, where children can play, has four attractions. Popular attractions include the classic merry-go-round and the thrilling roller coaster. Each attraction requires a separate ticket, which can be purchased for 100 to 300 yen, in addition to the admission fee. Because it's affordable, families with children are encouraged to visit. Come and enjoy the park at a low cost!

Accessible for Day Trips from the Tokyo Area

The nearest station to Nihondaira Zoo is JR Higashi-Shizuoka Station, which can be accessed in just 10 minutes using the Shizutetsu Just Line's Shizuoka Nihondaira Line. JR Higashi-Shizuoka Station is located just 10 minutes by train from JR Shizuoka Station, making it possible to visit the zoo for a day trip from the Tokyo or Kansai areas using the shinkansen. If you're coming by car, it's about a 15-minute drive from the Tomei Nihondaira Kunouyama Smart IC. After passing through the traffic light in front of the zoo entrance, head towards the parking lot.

Free for Elementary and Junior High School Students in Shizuoka!

The entrance fee is 620 yen for adults (high school students and above), 150 yen for elementary and junior high school students, and free for preschoolers. An annual passport that allows free entry for one year is 2,510 yen for adults and 610 yen for elementary and junior high school students. When parking a car, a parking fee of 620 yen is required. In addition, there is a wonderful system in place where elementary and junior high school students who reside or attend school in Shizuoka City can enter for free by presenting a certificate. 祝日に行きましたがほぼ待ち時間無しで入園出来ました。思っていたより広く、ひとつひとつの動物をじっくり見ていたら４時間程かかりました。哺乳類や鳥類だけでなく、爬虫類や両生類など約140種600点の動物がいます。ここに来たら見てほしいのがホッキョクグマやライオン、ピューマなどが同じ施設内で見られる猛獣館299と調査研究、学習教育活動、情報発信の場であるビジターセンターです。それ以外にもピンク色になる前のフラミンゴのヒナや、時間限定ですがマレーバクの親子(子供は白黒になる前のウリ坊に似た模様の状態)は今しか見られません。
