The former Sawamura residence, which embodies the atmosphere of the Taisho era, is a house filled with the aesthetics of a fusion of Japanese and Western styles, utilizing Izu stone and sea cucumber wall construction. The exterior, made with locally produced Izu stone and featuring a white mesh pattern characteristic of sea cucumber wall construction, captivates visitors. Inside, traditional Japanese-style rooms from the time period have been recreated, allowing for a leisurely passage of time. Additionally, art pieces are exhibited in the "Kura Gallery". This place, which is open to the public for free, is a hidden gem in Shimoda City!
