"Fukutaro" is a grass mochi that allows you to enjoy a pleasant taste and aroma while inheriting tradition. It's made carefully without any additives, using carefully selected mochi rice and azuki beans. The Fukutaro, wrapped in sweet bean paste, is filled with a refreshing sweetness and the scent of nature. This grass mochi also has health benefits. The mugwort it contains has the power to ward off evil spirits and is highly nutritious among wild plants, especially rich in calcium. The origin of Fukutaro is related to the "Otauchi Shrine Ritual" held on January 7th. This ritual is an auspicious ritual that has been passed down since ancient times to pray for a good harvest and peace in the world. Fukutaro is highly valued as a presence that bestows blessings during the ritual. After the ritual, red and white mochi and seedlings are scattered, and many worshippers gather to receive blessings. Fukutaro is affectionately called "Fukutaro who sows the seeds of happiness" due to its name and role, and is loved by many. Today, Fukutaro's face has become a mochi, bringing happiness to many people. Please try the lucky mochi "Fukutaro" at Shimoda Shrine, where tradition and deliciousness intersect.
