A Memorial Hall where you can experience the history and culture of the Uesugi family!

The Uesugi Memorial Hall is the former residence of the 14th generation Uesugi Earl Shigekuni, built on the site of the second bailey of Yonezawa Castle. The building was completed in 1896, but was destroyed in the Yonezawa Great Fire of 1919. It was then rebuilt in Japanese cypress in 1925, and became the elegant Japanese-style mansion it is today. The building is designated as a registered tangible cultural property of Japan. The current Uesugi Memorial Hall is open to the public as the only place where you can enjoy Yonezawa's local cuisine, "katamono". Katamono is a food made by mixing plants and other ingredients with rice to supplement nutrition during times of famine. The local cuisine, which reproduces the taste of this traditional dish, plays an important role as the origin of the local food culture. In addition, the beautiful garden surrounding the Uesugi Memorial Hall is modeled after the Hamarikyu Gardens in Tokyo. Access in 10 Minutes by Car from Yonezawa Chuo IC!

When accessing Uesugi Shrine using public transportation, first arrive at JR Yonezawa Station. From there, take the city loop bus and board the clockwise route. After riding the bus for about 11 minutes, you will arrive at the "Uesugi Shrine Mae" bus stop. From the bus stop, it is about a 5-minute walk to Uesugi Shrine. If using a car, get off at the Yonezawa Chuo IC on the Tohoku Chuo Expressway and drive for about 10 minutes to arrive at Uesugi Shrine. Either way, you can easily access Uesugi Shrine. Choose the appropriate route depending on your means of transportation and enjoy visiting Uesugi Shrine.

山形県米沢市の上杉神社へ松が岬公園内にあり上杉謙信がお祀りされています。 10月半ばですが、お天気もよく比較的暑くてあまり紅葉はしていませんでした。乗りませんでしたが、人力車も2人で2500円と言う価格設定で待機してました。平日だった為、あまり参拝客もおらずゆっくり見学出来ました。駐車場は無料。近くに物産館、レストラン、博物館、稽照殿などもありました。有料の近隣の観覧施設4ヶ所のお得なチケットも販売されてました！

山形県米沢市にある上杉神社に、週末11時頃に行きました。暑い日だったこともあり、他の参拝客は5.6組程度。無料駐車場から徒歩5分以内で鳥居に到着です。日陰が少ないので帽子や日傘が必須だと思いました。周辺にいくつか無料駐車場がありますが今回は土産物屋さんの駐車場に停めて向かいました。帰りにお土産を見ることもできますし、米沢牛の串を食べることもできますよ。本殿手前までは段差がなく石畳を車椅子でも進むことができました。とても有名な文言が書かれた石碑があります。「なせば成る…」

山形県米沢市の上杉神社にお詣りさせていただきました。松が岬公園内にある、戦国武将上杉謙信公を祀る神社上杉家伝来の宝物を所蔵する稽照殿が隣接してます。上杉謙信にあやかり開運招福や諸願成就、学業成就や商売繁盛のご利益もあるとされるパワースポットです。参道にある舞鶴橋には「毘」と「龍」という文字が書かれた軍旗が翻ります。「毘」は上杉謙信が毘沙門天を厚く信仰していたことに由来してるとの事。三連休な事もありたくさんの方がお参りされていました。
