The former Nishitagawa district office in Tsuruoka City is a valuable cultural heritage site where you can feel the history of the silk industry. The Shonai region developed as the northernmost silk production area in Japan, thanks to the largest silkworm breeding group in Japan. The history and culture of the silk industry preserved in this area also contribute to creating new value. When you visit, you can feel the efforts of our predecessors who worked towards modernization from the entire townscape. Please come and visit at least once!
