The Hagurosan Five-Story Pagoda is the center of Tohoku Buddhist culture and has been designated a national treasure. It was once known as the five-story pagoda of the Takimizu Temple, and there were many temples in the surrounding area. However, now only the five-story pagoda remains, located on the left side of the entrance to Ichinokura, towering beautifully in cedar wood and thatched with persimmon leaves. The current five-story pagoda was rebuilt about 600 years ago by Muto Masashi, the lord of the Shonai region and the deputy chief priest of Hagurosan. Along with its historical background, the graceful appearance of the tower is its charm. Hagurosan is the center of Buddhist culture in the Tohoku region and is loved by many people as a symbol of it. When you visit, please enjoy its majestic appearance while touching on history and culture.
