The Chigo no Ie in Kashiwazaki is a hidden gem where tens of thousands of local toys and folk crafts collected by Shoji Iwashita are displayed in a cramped space. The rustic exhibits, which exude a simple charm from all over Japan, invite visitors to a nostalgic retro world. Each one, finished with care by nameless craftsmen, has the scent of history and local culture. There is also an experience of painting a triangular daruma (reservation required), and by touching eco-friendly toys made from familiar materials and local toys that teach the wisdom of the past, why not embark on a journey to deeply understand Japanese culture?
