According to legend, when the temple was relocated, the wife of the dragon god living in Jounuma transformed into a beautiful woman and listened earnestly to the preaching at the temple. Afterwards, as thanks for being saved from her confusion, she entered this well and protected the temple. Originally, the Dragon Well was located within the grounds of Zendouji Temple, but when the temple was relocated to its current location in Kusacho, only this well remained. It is said that in 1589, Ishida Mitsunari and Ootani Yoshitsugu, who were tired from attacking Tatebayashi Castle, drank from this well to recover their strength and suddenly gained power, leading to the victory of Ishida and Ootani.
