Highlights

Point 1

Designated as a Top Beach in Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park

Mihara Beach Designated as a Top Beach in Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park
Yonaha Maehama Beach is a natural beach that has been loved by the locals of Ishigaki Island for a long time. The sea is filled with a wide range of coral reefs, creating a wonderful underwater environment where tropical fish swim. Due to its rich natural environment, it has been designated as a part of the Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park. Why not take a look at the beautiful coral sea that can hardly be seen elsewhere? You're sure to feel the reason why it's so popular on Ishigaki Island!
Point 2

A Vast, Pure White Natural Beach Stretching for About 1km

Mihara Beach A Vast, Pure White Natural Beach Stretching for About 1km
The length of the Miwahara Coast, which gently curves, is about 1km, making it a very wide beach. During the summer season, it is bustling with tourists enjoying swimming and snorkeling. The beach is relatively calm as it is surrounded by a reef and has a shallow depth, making it popular among families with children. You can even see tropical fish at the water's edge. Why not enjoy playing in the sea with your family and friends in an open environment?
Point 3

Crystal Clear Waters! The Perfect Spot for Snorkeling

Mihara Beach Crystal Clear Waters! The Perfect Spot for Snorkeling
The transparency of the sea at Miwara Beach is unbeatable! The sight of the coral reefs spreading over a wide area is like a scene from a fairy tale. While the water is shallow near the coast, if you go about 200 meters offshore, you'll reach the reef edge. The water depth drops suddenly to about 20 meters, and the types of fish you can see change as well. It's a fun sea that even serious snorkelers will be satisfied with. However, be careful as strong offshore currents can occur around the reef edge during low tide. Actually, swimming is not prohibited at Miwara Beach, but it is designated as a dangerous swimming area. It's dangerous to go further offshore as the current gets faster, so let's not go beyond the reef edge.
Point 4

Popular Area Among Divers: Miihara

Mihara Beach Popular Area Among Divers: Miihara
The Miihara coast area is a very popular diving spot. About 1km offshore, there is a vast reef point called "Miihara W Reef" where you can enjoy top-class coral reefs and dense fish shadows like those found in Ishigaki Island. In addition to diving, there are also many snorkeling tours that include the popular spot "Blue Cave", so if you want to enjoy snorkeling offshore, join a marine activity tour in the area! You can also rent wetsuits, life jackets, and other equipment, and with a guide, even beginners can enjoy snorkeling with peace of mind.
Point 5

Convenient with Parking and Showers Fully Equipped!

There are two paid parking lots near the Yonohara Beach where you can park for 500 yen a day. They are relatively large and can accommodate about 60 cars. There are also free parking lots, but they can only accommodate a few cars and it depends on luck whether you can find a spot or not. The beach facilities are well-maintained and equipped with toilets and showers. You can also use the toilets and showers at the adjacent "Yonehara Campsite". In addition, there is a shop near the beach where you can buy light meals.

Convenient Use of Nearby Marine Shop!
The marine shop "Jellyfish" is highly recommended as it is the closest to the Miwahama Beach. Although it is a marine shop that offers snorkeling and kayak tours, it also has a wide range of rental goods such as snorkeling gear, beach umbrellas, life jackets, and chairs that allow you to enjoy the Miwahama Beach at a leisurely pace (reservation required). They also have a variety of light meals such as hot dogs, taco rice, and Yaeyama soba, making it a great place to have lunch. In addition, they offer parking (500 yen per day) and rental car services (reservation required), making them a reliable source for enjoying the Miwahama Beach.

Access

Renting a car is highly recommended
This is a beach located in the northwest of Ishigaki Island, about 25 minutes by car from Ishigaki Airport and about 30 minutes from the remote island terminal. As taxis cost around 4,000 yen each way, renting a car is often cheaper when considering round-trip transportation costs. It's also possible to take a bus from the bus terminal in the city center or from Ishigaki Airport. There are two buses in the morning from the bus terminal, and it takes about 30 minutes to get to the nearest bus stop to Yonaha Maehama Beach, "Yonaha" (890 yen). There are also two buses a day from Ishigaki Airport, arriving in about 25 minutes (540 yen). However, with the bus, the last bus back to the bus terminal is before 4:30 pm, so the stay time is likely to be short and rushed.
