This park is home to about 10,000 azalea plants of around 50 different varieties. It was designated as a national scenic spot in 1934 and has also been developed as an urban park. Among the plants, there is a Yamatsutsuji that is over 800 years old and stands at a height of 5 meters. These giant trees are unparalleled in the world.

Every year from mid-April to early May, the Tsutsuji Matsuri (Azalea Festival) is held at the Prefectural Tsutsujigaoka Park. During this time, the shop at the entrance of the ticket booth is also open, and by purchasing tickets for boats or cruises in addition to the entrance fee, you can enjoy ferry rides and cruises on the Tsutsuji Pond in the park. Riding on a boat or cruise allows you to spend a relaxing time. Boats can hold up to four people, and ferries can hold up to 16 people.
