The 21st temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage. It is located near the summit of Tairyu Mountain, which offers a great view. It is easily accessible by ropeway in about 10 minutes. It is a historic temple and a tourist spot where you can enjoy spectacular views!

Tai-Ryu-Ji Temple is the 21st temple of the Shikoku Pilgrimage, also known as one of the challenging spots called "Henro Korogashi". However, with the opening of the ropeway, even those with weak legs can easily visit. From the ropeway, you can enjoy the view of the Kii Peninsula. From the mountaintop, you can overlook the city of Anan and the coastline, so please enjoy the charm of Tai-Ryu-Ji Temple by easily accessing it with the ropeway.

There are also many other attractions, such as the Nio statues, said to be the largest and oldest in Tokushima, the "Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove" carved in the Daishido, and "Yamasakimori" by the sculptor Nagare Masayuki. Next to the stamp office is the corridor of the Mochibutsudo, where you can see a powerful dragon ceiling painting, said to be the guardian deity of Tairyuji. If you have amulets or talismans from the previous year, return them and offer a donation. Tairyuji Temple is located in the mountainous area near the sea, so be sure to dress warmly when visiting.

Tairyuji Accessible by Ropeway
Accessible by Ropeway
Tairyuji Temple is located about a 50-minute drive from the center of Tokushima City. You can also take the Tokushima Bus Niu Valley Line and get off at "Washoku Higashi," then walk 10 minutes to the Tairyuji Ropeway, but since there are few buses, it is recommended to go by car. Once you arrive at Tairyuji, you can choose whether or not to use the ropeway. If you choose to use it, parking is free, but if you choose not to use it, you can park your car for 500 yen.
