天神橋商店街のわきから石階段を登るとお社があります。日当たりが良くぽかぽか陽気のこの日はなんだか境内に立っているだけでご利益がありそうな。遠くの小さな山の上に、四万十市郷土博物館のお城のような建物も望めます。猫好きな娘たちが猫ちゃんに会えるのを楽しみにしていましたが、見当たらず。親切な神社の方が連れてきてくれました。なでなでしながら日向ぼっこでお昼寝。癒されました。帰りに石段を下っていくと、猫ちゃんの足跡が。可愛い。四万十市へ来たらぜひ立ち寄って欲しい癒しの空間でした。

2024年7月初参拝。「公家なのに戦国大名」という異色の経歴を持つ土佐一條氏の本拠地中村御所。その中村御所がここにあったとのことで、某歴史シュミレーションゲーム好きの私にとっては、ここを訪れることが出来、大変光栄至極なのであります！私が土佐一條氏に注目したきっかけは、某歴史シュミレーションゲームにおける土佐一條氏4代目当主一條兼定さんの存在でした。某歴史シュミレーションゲームに登場する1000人とも2000人とも言われる登場武将たちの中でも兼定さんの愚鈍ぶりは群を抜いているのです。恐るべきレベルの無能ぶり。今川氏真さんも真っ青なレベルです。某歴史シュミレーションゲームの中で、使えない無能な武将というのは兼定さん以外にももちろんいるのですが、大名クラスの武将でこの愚鈍さは破格なので知名度は抜群。「公家なのに戦国大名」「当主は戦国時代きっての愚鈍」「居城が城ではなく御所」などという特殊なキーワードが散りばめられた土佐一條氏。このような事情から、個人的に中村御所はチャンスがあれば是非訪れてみたいと思っていたのでした。現在、中村御所の跡地には、こちら一條神社が鎮座されており、歴代の土佐一條氏の当主を祀っておられるのですが、しかし私、素朴な疑問として、こちらの一條神社に限らず、甲府の武田神社、福井の柴田神社、名古屋の豊国神社なんかでも思うのですが、滅亡した一族を祀っている神社って御利益あるのかな？と… だって、土佐一條氏も武田氏も柴田氏も豊臣氏もみんな滅亡しちゃってるんですよね…滅亡した人にあやかって何か御利益あるのかな、と… ただ、ご当地中村での土佐一條氏の存在は偉大です。応仁の乱で戦場になった京都から避難する為、所領だったこの地に下向してきてそのまま土着化した土佐一條氏。中村の街を京都に見立てた街づくりを行い、職人や商人を京都から招き、中村を西土佐の随一の中心地として発展させた功績は極めて大です。そんな土佐一條氏にリスペクトを覚えつつ、参拝させていただきます。中村駅前の観光案内所で自転車を借りて10分ほど走ります。天神橋商店街という歴史のありそうな古いアーケード街の脇に神社の入口があります。古くからの商店街に近接した場所に中村御所があることで、御所が中村の中心地にあったのだということを感じさせます。「中村御所跡」と彫られた小さな石碑と記念写真を撮って、さほど広くない参道を歩き、先にある石段を上がります。中村の街の中で神社の部分だけがこんもり盛り上がっていて丘のようになっています。なので、境内からの見晴らしはとても良いです。なお、御所跡（城跡）としての見どころは特にありません。堀もなければ土塁のようなものもない。ただ、某歴史シュミレーションゲーム好きにとっては「ここにあの一條兼定さんが住んでたんだ！」と思える感動が確実に得られたことは大きな収穫でありました。
