Doryu-ji Temple (77th temple)

Dairyoji Temple in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture is the 77th temple founded by Waki Dairyo. It boasts a seven-building complex with Yakushi Nyorai as its principal image, created by Kobo Daishi. At Doryu-ji Temple (the 77th temple on the pilgrimage route) in Tadotsu Town, there exists a large mulberry tree that emits a mysterious light that extends nearly 5 meters around it. According to legend, Wake no Dōraku, who shot an arrow towards the eerie light emanating from the tree, accidentally struck his wet nurse. To atone for his mistake, he carved a statue of Yakushi Nyorai and enshrined it. Even today, this mulberry tree emits a wondrous light every night, exuding a profound charm and the breath of history to those who visit.
