Marugame Castle, one of Japan's Top 100 Castles, is the symbol of Marugame City.

Marugame Castle is a famous castle with a beautiful stone wall called "Ogi no Kakehashi" that draws a beautiful curve from the inner moat to the castle tower. One of the attractions of Marugame Castle is that you can see various types of stone walls such as "Nomaseki", "Uchikomi Hagi", and "Takagaki".

Designated National Treasure: Hiraizumi Castle Ruins

Marugame Castle is a designated National Treasure in Japan, known for its Hiraizumi Castle Ruins. The castle contains historical buildings and exhibits, making it a recommended spot for those interested in history. The castle is also illuminated at night, creating a fantastic atmosphere. During the cherry blossom viewing season, food and souvenir stalls are set up, allowing visitors to enjoy the cherry blossoms while purchasing local treats. The Main Gate, a Valuable Cultural Property, is Open to the Public for Free

The Main Gate at Marugame Castle is a valuable building designated as an important cultural property by the government. As it is open to the public for free, you can appreciate this precious cultural property up close. The gate, built during the Edo period, has a stone-throwing mechanism used to drop stones on enemies during battles, giving a sense of the remnants of the Warring States period. In addition, various exhibits such as shachihoko and taiko drums are on display, so be sure to take a look.

Japan's Tallest Stone Wall

The stone wall of Marugame Castle is said to be the tallest in Japan, with a height of about 60 meters from the moat to the castle tower. Although some parts have collapsed, the stone wall of the third bailey is still intact and shows its beautiful appearance to visitors. By the way, there are lucky stones in some parts of the stone wall that are said to bring good relationships, so please try to find them when you visit Marugame Castle.

Join a Free Guided Tour

At the tourist information center located in Marugame Castle, you can request to join a free tour led by local volunteers. When touring the castle, if you know the highlights and history beforehand, your enjoyment will be multiplied. The volunteers kindly explain the background and history of each spot, so you can learn about the history and culture of Marugame Castle through the tour.

A Castle 15 Minutes on Foot from Marugame Station

Marugame Castle is a tourist spot located nearest to JR Marugame Station. It takes about 10-15 minutes on foot from the station to Marugame Castle, and since there are steep stairs inside the castle, it's recommended to wear comfortable clothing. In addition, there are two types of parking lots around Marugame Castle: a free one and a municipal paid one, so depending on the congestion, it's best to use both parking lots. Even if you use the paid parking lot, you can park for free for up to 2 hours by processing it at the certification machine at the castle tower, the tourist information center, or the museum.

2024 10/14 16時前着。石垣の大規模な大修復箇所が散策して行くと拝見できます。見返り坂の傾斜はかなりの物です。登って行く道中で見れる丸亀市街の景色はいいです。三の丸北石垣は20メートルを超え扇の勾配と呼ばれ美しい勾配です。 (引用)現存12天守石垣の名城　丸亀城瀬戸内海を行き交う海上交通の要所であった丸善の地に築城された丸亀城。標高66メートルの亀山に石垣を積み上げて築かれています。海側、つまり城の北側から見る遠景は圧巻で、むしろ西洋の城を思わせる巨大な石垣の壁が広がっています。大手一の門、二の門、江戸時代より現存する天守は国の重要文化財に指定されているほか、日本一美しいと言われる石垣、見返り坂など、多くの見所があります。

☆一二三段『石の名城』丸亀城😄 丸亀平野の真ん中、亀に似た標高66mの岩山を利用した平山城、別名:亀山城・蓬莱城。・小規模な城郭の中に渡櫓で連結した二重櫓跡が10ヶ所、更に周囲を約20mの高石垣で覆った螺旋状の縄張は圧巻。・現存12天守の一つ、層塔型高さ約14.5m、一層平面は現存天守の中で最小(現存天守で高さが一番低いのは備中松山城の11m)、江戸時代は「御三重櫓」の呼称。・その他の複数の現存遺構には大手一の門・大手二の門・御殿表門/番所/御駕籠部屋/長屋、周りの内堀の景観も街中で良く保存されたと感心。城郭好きには堪らない縄張と普請、隅々をゆっくりと堪能、凄く面白い🏃 南西部の三の丸と帯曲輪の崩落現場を大規模修復中、近くに無料の整備事業PR館あり見学可能、興味深い👀 【駐車場】 ①大手門前に無料の市民ひろば駐車場、トイレも完備。 ②市立資料館横に無料の丸亀城駐車場。

2024.9訪問時丸亀城香川県丸亀市一番丁〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜重要文化財... 天守・大手一の門・大手二の門国指定史跡... 丸亀城日本100名城第78番〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜丸亀城は、高さ日本一の石垣を有する「石垣の名城」として有名で、その石垣に鎮座する天守は、現存十二天守の一つです。丸亀城は、生駒親正がその子・一正と共に慶長二年から五年がかりで築いた、自然の小山を利用した平山城です。築城四〇〇年を超えた今でも、決して色褪せることなく、自然と調和した独自の様式美を残しています。「石垣の名城」と言われる程、石垣が有名です。江戸時代初期の城郭石垣を築く技術が最高水準に達したときに作られたもので、優れた技術で積まれた石垣を見ることができます。特に丸亀城の主要な石垣は、高く美しい曲線が特徴です。〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜
