Oyamazumi Shrine is said to be the head temple of approximately 10,000 Yamagami Shrines and Mishima Shrines nationwide. In the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, it is referred to as a "mountain god," and is also considered a god of the sea and of travel. During the relevant period, it existed as the only national treasury shrine in Shikoku (a highly respected shrine). When visiting the Oomishima of the Shimanami Kaido, it is a spot that you definitely want to stop by.

Oyamazumi Shrine See the 2,600 Year Old Great Camphor Tree
One thing you must see when visiting Oyamazumi Shrine is the 2,600 year old great camphor tree. This magnificent tree has been designated as a natural monument by the government and has taken root in this area since Ogami no Mitama, a god enshrined in this shrine, planted it. It's said that if you hold your breath and walk around the tree three times, your wishes will come true, so be sure to give it a try!
Point 3

Explore National Treasures at the National Treasure Museum

At the National Treasure Museum of Oyamazumi Shrine, about 80% of the designated national treasures and important cultural properties of Japan, such as armor, are preserved and exhibited. In particular, the number of preserved armors is the largest in the country, with representative armors from each era, including the oldest armor from the mid-Heian period, and many famous swords on display. This is a must-visit place for history enthusiasts who are interested in armor, swords, and more!
