History

A Hot Spring Resort Named After the Discovery of Yunohana
Sakkou Onsen was originally called "Sakihana-chi". Yunohana (a substance (dissolved matter) that precipitates and solidifies when immersed in natural hot springs) was discovered in that location, and the name was changed to "Sakkou Onsen" with different kanji characters. It's a relatively new hot spring resort that opened in 1954. It's located near the scenic area of the Agano River basin, which is designated as a scenic spot in Niigata Prefecture, and has developed as a hot spring where you can relax after enjoying the view of the Agano River.

Sightseeing

Hot Springs Connecting Niigata and Aizu
Sakkahana Onsen is located on the road connecting Niigata City and Aizu-Wakamatsu City. Both cities are about an hour and a half away by car, making it the perfect hot spring resort for traveling between two cultural areas. The "Northern Culture Museum" in Niigata Prefecture allows you to experience the lifestyle of the Ito family, a wealthy merchant family in Niigata. In addition, at "Tsuruga Castle" in Aizu, you can learn about the early Meiji period's Boshin War. Please experience the two regions, Niigata and Fukushima, which are close but have completely different cultures.
