Within the vast grounds, there is a 1km circumference grass square with a diameter of 300m. You can play with balls, fly kites, and freely experience nature. In addition, next to the grass is an area with over 15 wooden play equipment and a white circular trampoline called "Fluffy Dome". The very large dome allows you to experience feeling like you are on top of a cloud.
Point 2

Various Flower Gardens Soothe Adults as Well

Some may read the first attraction and think, "Isn't this park just for kids? Would adults even enjoy going?" However, at Echigo Hillside Park, there are two types of flower gardens: the Fragrant Rose Garden and the Flower Hill. Depending on the season, you can enjoy various flowers. The Fragrant Rose Garden is composed of seven areas, where you can admire colorful roses with their gorgeous scent in spring (May-June) and autumn (October). At the Flower Hill, you can see various flowers such as tulips (April-May), sunflowers (August), and cosmos (September-October) depending on the season. Your heart will surely be soothed by the colorful flower gardens.

At the first floor shop of the "Flower and Greenery Hall" located at the entrance of the park, you can enjoy a rare treat in Japan - "Blue Rose Soft Serve Ice Cream". This ice cream has the scent of roses, which is unique to this park famous for its rose garden. After enjoying the visual beauty of the roses in the garden, be sure to also savor their flavor! In addition, inside the "Fragrant Rose Garden" introduced in point 2, there is a "Rose Cafe" where you can enjoy light meals and try the "Red Rose Soft Serve Ice Cream". Surrounded by real roses, this is the only place in the country where you can enjoy rose-flavored soft serve ice cream twice in one day!

During the White Season (early January to the end of February), admission is free and the vast grounds are open as a snow sports resort. There is a ski slope for beginners, so even those who are skiing for the first time can slide with peace of mind. In addition, there are slopes for sledding, courses where you can go around the park on snowshoes or cross-country skis, and various ways to enjoy the snow to the fullest!
Point 5

Illumination Wrapped in a Whirl of Light

Kokunai Echigo-Kyuhaku Koen Illumination Wrapped in a Whirl of Light
During the limited time period of December, the park's trees and buildings are covered in light bulbs and an illumination event is held. Unlike the illuminations in the city, the illuminations here are simply "big"! You can experience a fantastic feeling as if you are in the middle of a whirl of light. In addition, a candle night is held only on weekend nights, with candles placed around the symbol of the park, the large Keyaki tree, creating a fantastic atmosphere. It's worth visiting even in the extreme cold of December!

Access

Note the Two Types of Entrances!
There are two types of entrances: the "Welcome Gate Entrance" and the "Sato-yama Entrance." Each entrance is accessible by park bus, but please choose the entrance that corresponds to your intended area. Echigo Kyorokuen Park is located in the suburbs of Nagaoka City, and there are two ways to access it: by car or public transportation. If you come by car, get off at the "Nagaoka IC" on the Kan-Etsu (Hokuriku) Expressway and proceed on National Route 8. If you want to specify the "Welcome Gate Entrance" on your car navigation system, search for "Aquale Nagaoka (phone: 0258-47-5656)." If you search for "Echigo Kyorokuen Park," you will be directed to the "Sato-yama Entrance." If you come by public transportation and want to go to the "Welcome Gate Entrance," take the bus from platform 6 at the Ote-guchi exit of Nagaoka Station. The final stop is Echigo Kyorokuen Park. However, from December to March, the bus does not go all the way to the final stop, so you will need to get off at "Yokodaidai 4-chome" and walk for about 10 minutes. If you want to go to the "Sato-yama Entrance," take the bus from platform 3 at the Ote-guchi exit of Nagaoka Station. Get off at "Oyazawa" and walk for 20 minutes. Please note that the "Sato-yama Entrance" is closed from December to March.
