The Wakabayashi Residence in Murakami City is a nationally designated Important Cultural Property that has restored and preserved a samurai residence from the 1800s. The curved roof and wall design of the samurai residence allows you to catch a glimpse of the lifestyle of a middle-class warrior. The thatched-roof, single-story building also has a beautiful garden where you can enjoy the scenery of each season. You can experience the lifestyle of that time by cooking konjac stew in an irori (traditional Japanese fireplace) or iron pot. The reasonable admission fee of 200 yen for adults and 100 yen for high school, junior high school, and elementary school students is also attractive.
