Obuse-do Honten is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop located in Obuse Town, Nagano Prefecture. The shop offers a wide variety of delicious Japanese sweets made with fresh chestnuts harvested in Obuse Town. Among them, the limited-time Mont Blanc called "Kuri no Tenshin Suzaku" (Chestnut Dim Sum Suzaku) attracts many people from all over the country every year. It is a Mont Blanc made from a paste of freshly steamed and strained new chestnuts. No sugar is used, so you can enjoy the sweetness and umami of the chestnuts themselves.

In the center of Obuse, there are two workshops where you can experience culture: Glass Gallery & Studio GLASS STUDIO Licco and Yakimono Go no Kobo. Glass Gallery & Studio GLASS STUDIO Licco has glasses that are easy to incorporate into everyday life, such as refreshing light-colored works and works with calm colors. You can also make your own sandblasted glass work, which is one-of-a-kind in the world. At Yakimono Go no Kobo, pottery classes are held four times a week, as well as hand-dyeing classes where you can draw pictures on cloth. You can enjoy drawing pictures freely and make pottery to give as a gift to your friends. At the gallery cafe "Choudo Yoi" next to the workshop, you can take a break during your stroll.

Relax and Unwind in a Natural Hot Spring

There are multiple hot spring inns and day-use hot spring facilities in Obuse town, where you can feel the beauty of nature and soak in the hot springs to relieve your fatigue after a day of sightseeing. The hot springs have bactericidal effects due to sulfur, peripheral vasodilating effects, and blood sugar lowering effects, making them effective against chronic skin diseases, hypertension, and diabetes. In addition, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the majestic mountains of northern Shinshu from the open-air baths. Some hot springs even offer the opportunity to watch the sunset over the mountains. Circumnavigate Obuse on a Rental Bicycle!
In the center of Obuse, there is a rental bicycle shop where tourists can rent a bicycle for a day. Obuse is a small town with a radius of 2km, so with a bicycle, you can easily visit famous tourist spots. It's fun to have cultural experiences at museums such as "Hokusai Museum" and "Obuse Museum," and it's also enjoyable to go on a stylish cafe tour that matches the townscape.

栗の木を加工したタイル?が敷き詰められた通りです。 古くなったものは取替られるようで、古いものと新しいものがコントラストとなっており見応えがありました。 冬は滑るので転倒防止用の藁のマットが引かれており栗の木の床はあまり見えませんが、雪が沿道に彩りを添えています。 周囲には北斎館や高井鴻山記念館、モンブランが有名な小布施堂などがありこの一帯は観光地としてとても見応えがあります。 駅からは少し距離がありますが、面白い街なので是非歩いて行ってみてもらえればと思います!

3月の訪問で、雪もなく、花もなく、ちょっと閑散としてましたが、小布施散歩には最適だと思います。食べ歩きしながらお散歩。 きっと木々が生い茂った季節は最高なんだろうと思います。 評価のは、季節が悪い時にしたから4くらいだと思いますが、適切な時期ならきっと最高だと思い、5にしました。 近くにフラワーガーデンもあるようですので、次回はここで、食べ歩き散歩にと兼ねてまた寄ろうと思います。
