Kyukaruizawa Ginza Street Enjoy History and Nature
Karuizawa is a town with a rich history. It prospered as a key transportation hub since the Yamato period, became a post town on the Nakasendo during the Edo period, and was later reborn as a summer resort during the Meiji and Taisho periods. In particular, the area around the old Karuizawa Ginza Street is home to many historic buildings such as the Karuizawa Tourist Hall (formerly the Karuizawa Post Office) and the Karuizawa Meeting Hall. There are also many quaint churches to enjoy while strolling around. By making use of rental bicycles, you can enjoy nature to the fullest while feeling the wind in your hair. The fresh greenery of early summer is gentle on the eyes and very soothing.
