Odawara

The first tourist spot to visit in Odawara, which prospered as a castle town during the Warring States period, is undoubtedly Odawara Castle. It is famous for being the base of the Hojo clan, a powerful feudal lord who ruled the entire Kanto region for 100 years, and for withstanding attacks from famous warlords such as Uesugi Kenshin and Takeda Shingen, becoming an impregnable castle. One of its characteristics is its vast outer walls and earthen embankments, and inside the castle tower, ancient documents, armor, swords, and other items are displayed. From the top floor observation room, you can enjoy a panoramic view of Sagami Bay, especially recommended during cherry blossom season.
