Near Nosappu Cape, there is the "Nosappu Cold Current Aquarium," the northernmost aquarium in Japan. It houses and exhibits about 100 species and 1,500 creatures, mainly northern creatures. In the huge circulating tank with a water volume of 90 tons, you can see the elusive fish, itou, swimming with hokke, soy, and karei. Enjoy a completely different ecosystem from that of mainland aquariums. In the summer, you can see a cute show of spotted seals, and in the winter, you can also see Humboldt penguins walking around inside the aquarium.

Adjacent to the Noshappu Cold Current Aquarium and affectionately known as "Wakkarium," the Wakkanai City Youth Museum is located in Wakkanai City. The planetarium inside is the oldest in Hokkaido, and the observatory and laboratory are fully equipped, allowing you to learn about the wonders of science while having fun. In addition, many materials related to Antarctic observation, which is deeply connected to Wakkanai City, are on display. There are also models of the icebreakers "Soya," "Fuji," and "Shirase," as well as related materials on dog sleds that were actually used in Antarctic observation. Here, you can learn about Hokkaido's history that can't be found anywhere else.

In particular, if you rent a bicycle, you can enjoy famous tourist spots while basking in the nature of Hokkaido. Stone monument tours, such as the "Wakkanai Route Monument" and the "Antarctic Observation Karafuto Dog Training Monument," are especially enjoyable and unique to the northernmost region.

Taking a Bus from the Bus Stop in Front of Wakkanai Station
To get to Nosappu Cape, you first need to go to Wakkanai City. It's recommended to use a plane from Honshu to get to Wakkanai City. It takes about 2 and a half hours from Haneda Airport to Wakkanai Airport. From Wakkanai Airport to outside Wakkanai City, it takes about 40 minutes by bus. From Wakkanai Station, take a bus from the Wakkanai Station Bus Terminal to the "Nosappu Cape" bus stop. It's about a 10-minute walk from there.

Enjoy the View of the Sea and Sunset at Nosyappu Cape
At Nosyappu Cape, it takes about an hour to enjoy the view of the sea and sunset. If you want to enjoy the sunset, it's recommended to have about 1-2 hours of free time before and after the sun sets to enjoy the magic hour. There is a restaurant around the cape, so if you start to feel cold from the outside wind, you can warm up with some hot food at a nearby restaurant.
