Ranbetsu Lake Onsen Enjoy the View from a Sightseeing Boat
Sightseeing boats operate on Lake Shikaribetsu, which spreads out in front of the Shikaribetsu Lake Onsen, from spring to autumn. You can enjoy the untouched nature of Hokkaido, which cannot be seen from land, by taking a 40-minute trip around the lake. Lake Shikaribetsu is also famous for its transparency, being one of the clearest lakes in Japan. Viewing the fish and the bottom of the lake from the boat is a must-see.
Point 2

Enjoy Hiking by the Lakeside

Ranbetsu Lake Onsen Enjoy Hiking by the Lakeside
At Lake Shikaribetsu, there are hiking trails where you can easily enjoy a hike by the lakeside. Walking through the forest while enjoying the view of the lush green lake is incredibly relaxing. The scenery changes with the seasons, with fresh greenery in the summer and autumn leaves being a highlight. There are also areas where you can get close to the lake, allowing you to take photos with the lake as your backdrop.
Point 3

Enjoy an Open-Air Bath on the Ice

Ranbetsu Lake Onsen Enjoy an Open-Air Bath on the Ice
At Lake Shikaribetsu, an event called "IceLodge" is held every year, taking advantage of the characteristic of the entire lake surface being covered in hot ice during the severe winter season. While there are various attractions, the "open-air bath on the ice" built on the lake surface is one of the highlights. In the special open-air bath installed on the ice, you can soak in hot spring water directly drawn from the source. Enjoy the magnificent view of Lake Shikaribetsu in winter from the open-air bath with your family and friends.
Point 4

Enjoying Drinks at the Ice Lodge

One of the winter pleasures at Lake Shikaribetsu is drinking cocktails and other beverages inside a beautiful building made of snow and ice. The building features tables and counters made of ice, creating a bar-like atmosphere. Drinks and juices are served in glasses made of ice, ensuring they stay chilled until the last drop. The sunlight shining through the gaps in the snow and ice is also stunning, adding to the unique and exciting atmosphere.
Point 5

Enjoy Hiking at Tenbousan

Ranbetsu Lake Onsen Enjoy Hiking at Tenbousan
Tenbousan, with an elevation of 1,174 meters, is a recommended spot where you can enjoy hiking and see Lake Shikaribetsu from the mountaintop. Tenbousan is also known as "Kuchibiru Mountain" because its reflection on the lake resembles a woman's lips. The mountain trail starts from the lakeside of Lake Shikaribetsu and takes about two hours to reach the summit via Mt. Shirakumo. There are many rocky areas, so it's essential to wear sturdy hiking shoes.
