Shirakami Mountainsとは
The Shirakami Mountains, spanning Aomori and Akita prefectures, are famous for their world's largest beech forest, which served as the setting for the Ghibli film "Princess Mononoke." This area has a rare plant and animal life, including valuable ecosystems such as Yamane and Japanese macaques, and has become Japan's first UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site to protect them on a global level. The cobalt blue lake surface of "Aoike," which looks like blue ink has been poured in, is beautiful.
