At Tateyama in Kumano City, the columnar joint cliff is a breathtaking sight when viewed from the sea. The strange rocks and boulders, which stretch about 550 meters in circumference and stand about 80 meters tall, are a natural work of art. You can feel the power of the cliff up close on a sightseeing boat. It is also known as the landing place of Emperor Jimmu, and on the hiking trail, you can enjoy tropical plants and coastal broad-leaved forests.
