History

Traces of History with Hot Springs Gushing from the Source
Shinhotaka Onsen is located at the farthest end of the Okuhida Onsen-go and is scattered along the Kamitakase River. Hot springs gush from the riverbed of the Kamitakase River, and the exact opening date is not clear. However, there is a legend that a vassal of Takeda Shingen bathed in this hot spring during the Warring States period. In addition, in 1841, the local magistrate visited the Kamitakase Onsen and recorded his observations. It is believed that this period marked the formation of the hot spring's history. In November 1968, it was designated as a national therapeutic hot spring resort as part of the Okuhida Onsen-go, and its appeal became widely known. Shinhotaka Onsen is a place overflowing with the charm of the history of hot springs gushing from the source and beautiful nature.
