History

The History of the Nigorigo Onsen
Nigorigo Onsen is one of Japan's leading high-altitude hot spring areas, and is also known as the Hida-side climbing entrance to the sacred Mt. Ontake. It was developed as a hot spring resort around the Meiji era, and became a place where climbers could stay overnight. In the Showa era, a road was opened from Kuguno through Akigami Onsen to Nigorigo Onsen, allowing it to develop as a hot spring resort. In this historic hot spring area, you can enjoy the blessings of nature and hot springs while refreshing your mind and body. Please spend a relaxing and healing time at Nigorigo Onsen.

Access

Access to the Daku Onsen
If you are using a car, you can reach Daku Onsen in about 120 minutes via National Route 41 (towards Takayama), Prefectural Route 437, and Prefectural Route 441 from Gero Onsen. Similarly, from Takayama, you can access it in about 100 minutes using National Route 41 (towards Gero), Prefectural Route 437, and Prefectural Route 441. However, large buses over 8 meters cannot pass through. There are also narrow one-lane sections along the way, and since there are many curves on the mountain road, be careful of your speed (please drive according to actual traffic regulations). If you use the train, get off at Hida-Kosaka Station or Gero Station on the JR Takayama Main Line. However, there are no bus services to Daku Onsen, so some ryokans may offer shuttle services to and from the station. If you get off at Hida-Kosaka Station on the JR Takayama Main Line, it takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes by taxi to get to Daku Onsen, and the fare is approximately 12,000 to 13,000 yen. Enjoy a safe journey.
