The residence of Katagura Kojo, the right-hand man of Date Masamune.
Once located in the center of Shiroishi City, it was the residence of Katagura Kojuro. It was dismantled once in Meiji 7, but in order to commemorate the achievements of Katagura Kojuro, the castle tower, Ote Ichinomon Gate, and Ote Ninomon Gate were reconstructed with wood in Heisei 7. Inside the castle, you can experience authentic armor dressing.

Shiroishi Castle is a historic castle ruin that served as a sub-castle of the Date clan of Sendai for 260 years and was the residence of the Kataura clan. In 1995, the castle tower was restored, attracting attention as the first reconstruction in 120 years since its demolition. Currently, you can pay to tour the inside. Inside the castle, there are stone walls that remain from the time of construction, making it a must-see tourist spot for history enthusiasts.

There are several options, such as the Jokamachi Hiroba Parking Lot next to the Shiroishi City Hall and the Masuoka Park Parking Lot across from Shiroishi High School. The Jokamachi Hiroba Parking Lot is also recommended for sightseeing in the surrounding area. During cherry blossom viewing season or events, it is expected to be crowded, so be sure to check the busy hours in advance before heading out.
