Godaido is a temple named after the fact that Jikaku Daishi enshrined the Five Great Wisdom Kings, and was rebuilt by Date Masamune. The current building is the oldest surviving Momoyama-style architecture in the Tohoku region and has been designated as an important cultural property by the government. There are many attractions such as the Five Great Wisdom Kings and the twelve zodiac sculptures. In addition, there is a beautiful view of Matsushima Bay from Godaido. It is a must-see spot when sightseeing in Matsushima.
