Hiyoriyama Park is located on a hill where the castle ruins of the former lord of Oshu, the Katsushika family, once stood. From the top, you can overlook Ishinomaki City and the Pacific Ocean. In spring, 400 cherry blossom trees bloom beautifully, while in early summer, about 450 azaleas add color to the scenery. It's also a place where many people took refuge during the Great East Japan Earthquake, known as the "Mountain of Life." Historical spots such as the Kashima Gojinkan Shrine and the former Monowaki Elementary School are scattered throughout, making it a scenic spot where you can feel both nature and history.
