1200-year-old Bishamondo with a history to be proud of.
This rock cave was enshrined with Bishamonten by the famous samurai, Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, as a commemoration of his victory over the Emishi people. The entire precinct has been designated as a historic site, creating a very solemn atmosphere. The temple, built as if it were clinging to the cliff face, and the "Iwamian Daibutsu" carved into the rock face are must-see sights.
