This is a little-known spot for autumn leaves in Fukushima prefecture. Hozo-ji is said to have been built by the general of the imperial army, Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, who prayed for the conquest of the Ezo people in this area. The temple grounds contain a city-designated natural monument, a maple tree and a large fir tree estimated to be 400 years old. The view of the mountain gate is a must-see at this temple.
