Highlights

Point 1

The Brilliant Red Maple Leaves are a Must-See!

Hozo-ji The Brilliant Red Maple Leaves are a Must-See!
画像引用:4travel.jp
This is a little-known spot for autumn leaves in Fukushima prefecture. It is said that Aizawa Ko enjoyed autumn leaves here, and the garden in the precincts contains a city-designated natural monument, "Maple and Large Fir of Hozoji Temple". Every corner of the precincts is colored with autumn leaves, and the scenery is like a different world. The brilliant red maple leaves are in full bloom, and the powerful scenery spreads out before your eyes. It's also a spot not to be missed for the collaboration between the pale pink blooming winter cherry blossoms and autumn leaves.
Point 2

Beautiful Contrast between the Main Gate and Autumn Leaves!

画像引用:4travel.jp
The main gate of Hozo-ji Temple, called "Nio-mon," was built in 1647 by Soma Yoshitsune, the lord of the Okuizumo Nakamura clan. The landscape of the main gate is very beautiful and continues to captivate visitors. The area around the gate is surrounded by trees, and in autumn, the maple leaves bloom beautifully, making it a very popular spot for photography. The contrast between the "wabi" of the main gate and the red-colored trees is very striking. Why not enjoy the scenery as if you've traveled back in time while gazing at the main gate and autumn leaves?
Point 3

Don't Miss the Autumn Foliage Lighting Event!

Hozo-ji Don't Miss the Autumn Foliage Lighting Event!
画像引用:ふくつぶ
Every year, an event is held at Hozo-ji Temple, and during the event, the autumn foliage on the temple grounds is illuminated. The foliage, which floats up in the darkness thanks to the lighting, creates a truly fantastical atmosphere. There is even a corner set up where the foliage is reflected on acrylic boards for that perfect "Instagrammable" shot. The lighting event began with the desire of those affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake to "bring a little light." Why not spend a magical night at Hozo-ji Temple?

A Temple with Beautiful Autumn Foliage that Competes with Other Prefectures
This shrine was founded in 801 by the Shogun, Sakanoue no Tamuramaro. It owns tangible cultural properties designated by the city, such as the "Hikifune Mandala Woodblock Print" and the "Gyuuou Houin Woodblock Print," as well as natural monuments designated by the city. It's a hidden gem for autumn foliage spots in Fukushima Prefecture, with the garden beauty on the shrine grounds being particularly popular. In autumn, you can also enjoy viewing the cold cherry blossoms along with the autumn foliage. Depending on the season, there are also lighting events, so be sure to check for information before your visit.
