Located just below Ashinomaki Onsen Kagayaki Park, "Ashi Popo" is a footbath where you can easily enjoy hot springs while waiting for a bus or after strolling through the hot spring town. It's a natural hot spring footbath that flows directly from the source. It has a roof, making it easy to use even in bad weather, and on sunny days, you can enjoy the footbath while shading yourself from the sun. Next to the footbath, there is a large tree growing, making it feel like a garden. The station is so popular among cat lovers and railway fans that a short drama series called "Nyan Travel Railway," featuring working cats, has been produced. Enjoy the Majestic Nature of a Hot Spring Town
Ashinomaki Onsen, known as the "phantom hot spring village" since ancient times, is a hot spring town that was founded 1,300 years ago by Gyoki. Along the Oogawa River, there are eight hot spring inns. The pride of Ashinomaki Onsen is its abundant hot water and beautiful valley. In the seasons of fresh greenery and autumn leaves, the valley is vividly colored and the stunning scenery makes for a great photo spot. With good access from both Aizu-Wakamatsu and Minami-Aizu, you can enjoy the hot springs for a day trip or overnight stay.

Access

Note that the Station and Hot Spring Town are a Bit Far Apart
If you're heading from Aizuwakamatsu City to Ashinomaki Onsen, it takes about 30 minutes by car. You won't miss the hot spring town as you can see it from the Ashinomaki Bridge. If you're using public transportation, take a bus from Aizuwakamatsu Station. If you're coming by train, you'll get off at Ashinomaki Onsen Station, but please be aware that it's a bit far from the hot spring town.
