Washizima Shrine in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, is known as a breeding ground for seagulls. This shrine is highly valued by fishermen, who believe that the seagulls will show them where the fish are. From around March to August each year, you can see about 30,000 to 40,000 seagulls flying in and raising their young. Washizima is filled with seagulls, and the sight is breathtaking. The island has a beautiful landscape with a sacred atmosphere, and the scenery covered in yellow rapeseed flowers is said to be divine. May, when seagulls are flying around Washizima, is particularly impressive. Washizima Shrine and the seagulls are an attractive place where the charm of nature and the history of the shrine are combined!
