The Great Buddha of Akata is an 11-faced Kannon Bodhisattva statue that stands at 9 meters tall, located in Hasedera Temple in Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture. The entire statue shines in a golden color. It is known as one of Japan's three great Hase Kannon and is popular among tourists. The Akata Great Buddha Festival is held every year on August 22nd and attracts many visitors. There are many other attractions in the surrounding area, such as Goho-en and the cherry blossom trees along the Imogawa embankment. Hasedera Temple also sells badges of the Great Buddha of Akata, which is a recommended item for fans of the statue. Be sure to get a badge when you visit.
