The garden incorporates a Kyoto-style design and involved over 1,000 carpenters and gardeners from Kyoto. Guided tours are available by reservation inside the building, and rooms can also be rented out. Additionally, Toritaga Kaikan is open to the public for free and is designated as a tangible cultural property of Akita Prefecture for its architecture and a scenic spot (memorial) for its garden. The Odate Folk Museum opened in 1996 and is located in Odate City, Akita Prefecture.
