At Shiroyama Park in Shirakawa City, Fukushima Prefecture, you can feel the history of the terraced hill castle ruins designed by the first lord of the Edo period, Nagamasa Niwa. The site is full of highlights, including pentagonal stone walls, earthen embankments, and natural moats from the Abukuma River. The fantastic scenery created by night cherry blossoms and sky lanterns is also charming. The park is free and fully accessible for those with disabilities.
