Maruyama Banka was a watercolor painter who was active from the Edo period to the Showa period, and had a significant influence as a leader in the spread of Japanese watercolor painting culture and in mentoring younger generations. The collection contains approximately 1,000 works, with donations from the family accounting for the majority of the works. They also put effort into creating events with unique ideas, and have held planned exhibitions such as the "Cat Exhibition" and "Edo Period Exhibition as Seen in Ukiyo-e" for a limited time in the past.
