Kabukiza

The Kabukiza Theatre has excellent access! It's directly connected to Higashi-Ginza Station on the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, so you can visit without worrying about getting wet on rainy days. Elevators and other facilities are also fully equipped, so even those with mobility issues need not worry. In addition, it's within walking distance from the Ginza and Tsukiji areas, so you can easily visit while shopping in Ginza or enjoying seafood in Tsukiji.

Since its establishment in 1889, Kabuki-za has undergone five renovations, with the current building being the fifth. Starting with the first building, which had a Western-style exterior, the theater became a Japanese-style building from the second renovation. From the Taisho to the Showa era, it became a place where famous Kabuki actors performed, and Kabuki-za entered its golden age, continuing to the present day. Currently, there are also office buildings and Kabuki-za Tower, making it a theater that fits the times of the Heisei and Reiwa eras. Kabuki-za also plays an active role as a place to connect Kabuki culture to the next generation, welcoming many customers from overseas.

Even if you don't plan on watching a play, you can still enter the Kabuki-za and use the souvenir shops and restaurants. However, if you do want to watch a play, you will need to purchase a ticket. Many people buy tickets in advance online, but if there are still seats available, you can purchase them right up until the start of the performance. Prices vary greatly depending on the seat, so it's recommended to check in advance on the Shochiku website or other sources.
