Yawata Shrine is a historic shrine that has gathered the faith of successive lords. The shrine is surrounded by a quiet forest and houses armor, swords, and ema (votive tablets), which convey the culture of the samurai to the present day. In the spring festival, the grand Kagura dance, designated as an important intangible folk cultural asset of the prefecture, is a must-see, and the Kaki Odori dance is also dedicated. The surrounding area is called "Yawata" and is loved because it also includes the Tokuwaka Inari Shrine. It is a popular spot where you can feel both nature and history.
