Hachimantai Dragon Eye in Hachimantai is a mysterious sight created by a natural phenomenon in the Mirror Pond near the summit of Hachimantai. This phenomenon occurs from late May to early June, during the process of snow melting in the spring after winter. The different melting speeds between the surrounding and central areas create a donut-like shape. Furthermore, a special sight appears when conditions such as sunlight and sky color overlap. In addition, the surrounding area includes the beautiful emerald green Megane Pond, also known as Dragon's Tears, which is popular among visitors. You can enjoy a walk while crossing the prefectural border around Mirror Pond and see various swamps such as craters formed by steam explosions, Hachiman Swamp, and Gama Swamp. The view from the observation deck is also fantastic, so when you visit Hachimantai, please enjoy the panoramic view of the vast nature!
