Access

1.5 Hours by Bus from Kintetsu Shimotsuiichi Station
There are two ways to access the Goyamatsu Cave: by public transportation or by car. If using public transportation, take the Kintetsu train and get off at Shimotsuiichi Station. Then, take the Nara Kotsu bus and get off at Dogawa Onsen. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes. It takes more than 30 minutes on foot from the bus stop to Goyamatsu Cave, so those who are not physically fit may prefer to access it by car.

Fee

Guided Tours for 450 Yen
The entrance fee for Godai Matsus Cave is 450 yen for adults and 200 yen for children. Reception is at the Gorogoro Tea House in front of the cave. From there, a guide will take you on a tour from the tram to the inside of the cave. The tram requires a separate fee. The regular holiday is every Wednesday. During the winter season (January to March), it may be temporarily closed due to weather conditions, so it's a good idea to call and check the business days before visiting.

Easily Accessible in 30 Minutes or Less
Godaigo Matsuzon Cave is not a large cave, so it can be seen in about 15 to 20 minutes. Despite being a small cave, there are many attractions inside, such as an 8-meter tall stone column. From the reception to the entrance of the cave, it takes about 5 minutes one way by trolley and about 10 minutes one way on foot. During peak times, you may have to wait in line to ride the trolley. There is also a possibility of walking on a mountain path, so it is recommended to visit in comfortable sneakers.
