Highlights

Point 1

Observing the Traditional Arch

Kintai Bridge Observing the Traditional Arch
The Nishiki-Kaido Bridge is one of Japan's three famous bridges that uses traditional bridge-building techniques that haven't changed since the Edo period. Originally, bridges were washed away by floods, but this bridge was constructed with the hope of creating one that wouldn't be. It was built by gathering civil engineering and architectural techniques of the time. The beautiful arch and the landscape and structure will leave you in awe. Be sure to peek under the bridge and see the geometric patterns of the wooden frames!
Point 2

Cross the Bridge and Enjoy the Nishiki River

Kintai Bridge Cross the Bridge and Enjoy the Nishiki River
After enjoying the Nishiki Bridge from underneath, pay the entrance fee at the entrance and cross the bridge! The first part of the bridge has stairs, and then it becomes a sloping path, with vibrations felt with each step. Once you've walked to the middle of the bridge, be sure to take in the view of the Nishiki River. The Nishiki River is known as a clear stream, and it's especially beautiful when viewed from the bridge. Be careful of slippery footing on rainy days.
Point 3

Enjoy the Scenery from a Sightseeing Boat

Kintai Bridge Enjoy the Scenery from a Sightseeing Boat
Depending on the season, you can enjoy a sightseeing boat in the style of a Yakatabune. It doesn't operate all year round, but runs for three seasons: the "Sakura Boat" from late March to the end of May during cherry blossom season, the "Ukai Sightseeing" from June to early September where you can relax with meals and drinks, and the "Momiji Boat" from early September to the end of November where you can enjoy beautiful autumn foliage. It's also cool to see the Kintai Bridge from below while on the boat, so if the timing is right, please try to get on board!
Point 4

Experience the Four Seasons at the Kintaikyo Bridge

Kintai Bridge Experience the Four Seasons at the Kintaikyo Bridge
The Kintaikyo Bridge boasts a beautiful contrast between the seasons and the bridge, offering stunning views no matter when you visit. In spring, the surrounding area is known as a cherry blossom spot, with around 3,000 cherry trees coloring the area. In summer, the "Kinkawa Water Festival Fireworks Display" takes place in August, with fireworks illuminating the sky above the Kintaikyo Bridge. Autumn is especially recommended, with a brilliant display of autumn leaves, and in winter, you can see the Kintaikyo Bridge covered in snow. It's exciting to imagine what kind of scenery will unfold depending on when you visit.
Point 5

Food Tour in the Shopping District

Kintai Bridge Food Tour in the Shopping District
On the west side of the Kintaikyo Bridge, there are food tour spots that are perfect for a break after sightseeing. Among them, the soft serve ice cream shops are a must-visit. There are two shops, "Sasakiya Kojiro Shoten" and "Takenosato Musashi," both selling a wide variety of soft serve ice cream, modeled after Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro, respectively. Both shops have a diverse menu, so if you're unsure, why not try comparing and contrasting the flavors?
