This is the site of the residence of Katsu Kaishu, a famous figure from the end of the Edo period, who lived here for 27 years in the Minato ward. Visitors can receive detailed explanations from experts while viewing excavated pottery and stone monuments. There is also a monument under the large ginkgo tree that Kaishu loved. He is known for his mentor-student relationship with Sakamoto Ryoma and for his reforms aimed at Japan's future. Although the building itself no longer exists, it's possible to imagine what it was like at the time through information boards.
