Toji Temple (Kyo-ogokoku-ji)

Toji Temple is the first esoteric Buddhist temple in Japan and is said to be the only remaining structure from the Heian period. The temple grounds, which are registered as a World Heritage Site, feature historical buildings such as the five-story pagoda and the East Gate. Its convenient location, only a 15-minute walk from Kyoto Station, is also attractive.
