Myooin Temple, founded by Kajiwara Kagesue, a powerful figure in the Kamakura Shogunate, is a temple where both the main hall, which was rebuilt in the late Kamakura period, and the five-story pagoda, which was built in the early Nanbokucho period, are designated as national treasures. It also houses historic Buddhist statues such as the wooden Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva statue and the Five Great Myoo statues made by Unkei. If you want to visit a national treasure that allows you to feel the history of Kamakura, Myooin Temple is a must-see.
