The Antoku Emperor Amida-ji Mausoleum in Shimonoseki City is the only imperial tomb that marks the end of the Heian period. Built on the orders of Minamoto no Yoritomo, its beautiful design is modeled after the underwater palace of Ryugu Castle. This area, surrounded by a circular mound, is known as the resting place of the young emperor, Emperor Antoku, and is located within the Akama Shrine. Along with the sad story of the Battle of Dan-no-ura, its value is immeasurably high and worth visiting.
