The museum displays valuable fossils from around the world, including the "Fukuisaurus suzukii" excavated in Iwaki City. Materials from the time when the Joban coalfield was prosperous are also preserved, and visitors can learn about the life of coal miners in the simulated mine tunnel.

The first thing you'll notice inside is the fossil of the Futabasaurus Suzuki, which was discovered in Iwaki City. This dinosaur has even appeared in a certain famous anime. As you move forward, you'll come across the fossil exhibit room, where you can see fossils of the Kube Nagaryu, which lived 85 million years ago, and the Iwaki Kujira, which lived about 4 million years ago. The exhibits are also accompanied by sound and light effects, making for a dynamic and exciting experience. This space is a must-see for fossil enthusiasts.

The Iwaki Coal and Fossil Museum Horuru features a rare facility that focuses on the "mine shaft." When you descend via elevator, you'll find a simulated mine shaft where you can learn how coal was mined. The same "frame" as an actual mine shaft is installed, and displays using mannequins reproduce the mining methods of each era. Take your time to observe the progress of technology up to the present day.
