Highlights

Point 1

Enjoy the Stunning View from the Westernmost Lighthouse in Shikoku

Sadamisaki Enjoy the Stunning View from the Westernmost Lighthouse in Shikoku
Sada Cape Lighthouse is a scenic spot located on the slender Sada Cape Peninsula, the westernmost point of Shikoku. Certified as one of the "88 Scenic Spots of Shikoku," the view that spreads out before you is truly breathtaking. If you go all the way to the location where the lighthouse stands, on a clear day, you can see Kyushu beyond the Toyohashi Strait. The recommended time to visit is in the evening. The sunset sinking into the sea is something you definitely want to experience with your loved ones.
Point 2

Enjoy a Walking Trail to the Tip of the Lighthouse

Sadamisaki Enjoy a Walking Trail to the Tip of the Lighthouse
From the parking lot at the tip of Sada Cape, you need to walk about 25 minutes on a walking trail to reach the lighthouse. Along the way, there is a camellia forest where you can enjoy forest bathing while walking. The camellias here bloom from winter to early spring, so it's a particularly recommended season when the bright red camellias are in full bloom. Even in other seasons, you can walk while enjoying the sunlight filtering through the trees, so the 25-minute walk will pass by in no time.
Point 3

Enjoy Swimming in High-Transparency Beaches in the Summer!

Sadamisaki Enjoy Swimming in High-Transparency Beaches in the Summer!
If you visit Sada Cape in the summer, we recommend "Kawanohama Beach"! It's a spot where you can enjoy swimming on a natural sandy beach that's about 1 km long, and many people gather here during the summer, regardless of whether they're from the prefecture or outside of it. You can simply swim, but we also recommend trying out marine sports such as windsurfing! The beach has a shallow shore, so even those with children can enjoy it with peace of mind.
Point 4

Enjoy Local Fresh Seafood Cuisine

At Sata Cape, there are several shops where you can enjoy local fresh seafood cuisine. One highly recommended spot is "Marina-tei" located in Misaki Port. They only use seafood caught from the fishing ports of Yawatahama and Misaki, allowing you to savor the fresh seafood of Sata Cape. With a variety of appealing dishes such as seafood and chirimen-don (rice bowl topped with dried small fish) and sazae (turban shell) cooked in a pot, it's hard to decide what to order.
Point 5

Purchase Local Souvenirs at a Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station)

Sadamisaki Purchase Local Souvenirs at a Michi-no-Eki (Roadside Station)
At "Sadamisaki Hanahana" near Misaki Port, local seafood and mountain products are sold, making it a great place to buy souvenirs. They sell everything from marmalade and juice made from Sadamisaki's famous citrus fruits, to citrus ice cream and live seafood. It's fun just to look around. There is also a restaurant with a view of Misaki Port and a tourist information center, making it a great spot to take a break during a long drive.

Access

Sadamisaki Recommended Access by Car
Recommended Access by Car
Sada Cape is located at the westernmost tip of Shikoku's Sada Cape Peninsula, and there are no buses or trains that run close by, making it difficult to access by public transportation. As the scenery is beautiful, it is recommended to access by car. It takes about 70km (about 2 hours) from Matsuyama-do Ozu IC to the tip direction, and there is a free parking lot, so you can rest assured. It is recommended to wear comfortable shoes as it takes about a 25-minute walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse at the tip of Sada Cape.

Required time

Sadamisaki Secure Half a Day if You're Going All the Way to the Tip
Secure Half a Day if You're Going All the Way to the Tip
The Sada Cape Peninsula is approximately 50 km long, so if you're going all the way to the tip to see the lighthouse, it will take about 3-4 hours round trip. Additionally, you'll need to walk about 25 minutes each way (approximately 50 minutes round trip) from the parking lot at the tip to the lighthouse. Considering the time it takes to get there, it's best to secure half a day just to be safe. If you want to enjoy the spectacular view from the lighthouse or indulge in local cuisine, it's best to secure half a day.
